A Gentle, Playful KS1 Maths Tutor

Want your child to feel happy and confident with numbers from the very start? I am Jill Irving, a former maths teacher, and I give Key Stage 1 children warm, one-to-one online lessons that make early maths feel fun rather than frightening.

Years 1-2 (ages 5-7) · Online across the UK · From £25 per hour

Key Stage 1 is where a child's whole relationship with maths begins. A little patient, encouraging help now lays a foundation that makes everything afterwards easier.

I keep KS1 lessons short, playful and full of praise. We count, build number bonds and explore shapes together on a shared screen, always at your child's pace, so maths feels like something they can do and enjoy.

Common questions

KS1 maths tutoring questions.

What ages is KS1 maths tutoring for?

Key Stage 1 covers Years 1 and 2, so roughly ages 5 to 7. Lessons are gentle, playful and pitched exactly to where your child is.

My child is very young. Will online lessons work?

Yes, with the right approach. I keep KS1 sessions short, lively and full of encouragement, using a shared screen so we can play with numbers together. A parent is always welcome to sit nearby.

My child has lost confidence with numbers already. Can you help?

This is exactly what I love doing. At KS1 the most important thing is that maths feels friendly, not frightening. We build from what your child can already do and celebrate every step.

Are the lessons online?

Yes, lessons are one-to-one and online with a shared whiteboard, so your child can learn from home anywhere in the UK.
