Online maths tuition
A Friendly, Experienced Online Maths Tutor
I am Jill Irving, a former Further Education maths lecturer and a one-to-one online maths tutor. I teach GCSE students, adult learners and anyone resitting maths over video, from the comfort of home, anywhere in the UK, with the same patient, personal teaching you would get sitting side by side.
GCSE · Functional Skills · Resits · Adults · Online across the UK · From £25 per hour
Good online maths tuition is every bit as personal and effective as meeting in person, and a great deal more convenient. We meet over video, share an online whiteboard, and work through everything together, step by step.
It means you can learn with an experienced maths tutor wherever you live in the UK, without anyone having to travel, and fit lessons neatly around school, work and family.
Why online works
All the benefits, none of the travel.
Learn from anywhere in the UK
No travel, no wasted time. Lessons happen at your kitchen table or desk, wherever you are in the country.
Easy to fit around life
Online lessons slot around school, work and family far more easily than in-person tuition, so it is simpler to stay consistent.
A shared online whiteboard
We work through problems together on screen, just as we would on paper, so it feels personal and clear, not distant.
The same patient, one-to-one teaching
Online does not mean hands-off. You get my full attention, clear explanations, and lessons shaped entirely around you.
What I tutor online
One tutor, every step of the way.
I offer online tuition in GCSE maths, Functional Skills Maths, GCSE maths resits and maths for adults. Whatever you are working towards, the lessons are calm, encouraging and built entirely around you.
Common questions
Online maths tutoring questions.
How do online maths lessons actually work?
We meet over a video call and share an online whiteboard, so we can write, draw and work through problems together in real time, just like sitting side by side. All you need is a laptop or tablet and an internet connection.
Is an online maths tutor as good as in person?
In my experience, yes, and often more convenient. The teaching is exactly the same patient, one-to-one approach; we simply do it on screen. Many students find they focus better at home, and there is no travel for anyone.
What do I need to get started?
Just a laptop, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, and a reliable internet connection. I will guide you through the rest in our first lesson.
What levels do you tutor online?
GCSE maths (Foundation and Higher), Functional Skills Maths Levels 1 and 2, GCSE resits, exam preparation, and adult learners returning to study.
How much does online maths tuition cost?
Lessons start from £25 per hour, depending on the level and what you need. The first consultation is free, with no obligation.
